Running course at Staveley where Inov-8 members run during lunch break.

Place for Walkers

A small station just before Windermere, Starberry is a small town with headquarters for the trail running brand Inov-8. Although there are no large hotels and a few B&Bs only, the facility built in a ex-watermill called Staveley Mill Yard where Inov-8’s headquarter located is a nice facility with craft beer, pubs and coffee shops. People dressed for running or hiking towards the mountains get together early in the morning. Although less well known to tourists, there are plenty of nice hiking trails and local runners and hikers gather here. It is a town that can be easily visited by train or bus, so it’s fun to visit once and climb the mountain to see the lake on the mountain.

I will Introduce the course that members of Inov-8 ran during lunch break. They often run up to the lake on the top of the mountain, had a short swim there, and then returned to the office to have a quick lunch. Their lives were unimaginable for the people living in the city. I couldn’t run with them because they were too fast, but as I was living for a year, I started running a little during the lunch break. I will introduce my easy running (walking?) course, too.

II will introduce the 10km course that members of Inov-8 traveled back and forth during the lunch break, and the 5km course I was running (walking?) using the lunch break as well. The 10km course runs in the mountains and heads for the lake, and the 5km course is a well-paved road where you can walk without problems even if it rains.

A course around a mountain lake where members of Inov-8 run during lunch break.

It is a route that goes from the Staveley Mill Yard where the headquarters of Inov-8 is located to two lakes in the mountains behind. It takes around 3 hours to walk for me, but the young guys of Inov-8 ran here for an hour during their lunch break, had a short swim in the lake and then returned to their office for a quick lunch. I didn’t have any idea where they went to run because it’s a course that isn’t on Google Maps at all, but I go there once before returning to Japan. It is a sight that you will be a little moved when you walk on the mountain while looking at the magnificent scenery and see the lake.Ken, who worked at Inov-8 with me, taught me the way.. Normally it would take about 3 hours if I walked, but this time I was pulled by Ken’s pace and ran for a little while back and forth within 2 hours. It is a little mountain climb with a height difference of 200 meters, but it is a relatively easy route without steep slopes.

6.Mountain climbing starts from here.
7. You will see the first lake past the first summit.
8.The mountains around here are sheep pastures, so you’ll have to climb the stone wall several times
9. To cross the stream flowing over the mountain, you need to jump over the rocks.

10. It is the scenery we just passed by.

11. When we went over the mountain peaks, the scenery of the next lake spread. It is a magnificent view that spreads 360 degrees.
12.This is the second lake. Inov-8 young staff are swimming here in the summer, but the winter has just ended, so we just had a rest by the lake.
13. On the way back, we are going downhill, so we run slowly. Since it is not a steep slope, you can run comfortably on the grass.

Inov-8 young staff run here during lunch break. They invited me several time, but I declined because they can run much faster than me. I finally run here before returning to Japan. It’s highly recommended because you can enjoy the pleasure of climbing mountains even though slope is not so tough. The pubs and coffee shops at Staveley Mill Yard are good, and the food is delicious, so if you have the time, please visit here.

A course where you can enjoy walking on the paved road that I ran during lunch break

Even though I didn’t like running until then, I started to run a little after I live at the Lake District. This course is only in the paved area of the above course, and I was able to run during lunch break. All the roads are paved, so there is no problem even if it rains.I run in a landscape with a smooth slope and a good view. It was a great run for a good break.

This is a picture taken during a lunch break running. If you’re lucky, you can see a flock of sheep as you can see in the video.

A flock of sheep seen in a lunch break orchid. They are gently guided by car.

You will never get tired of the magnificent scenery even if you look every day.

A residential area beside Stabilly Mill Yard. I wanted to live here, but it wasn’t vacant.

This is where the former watermill was located. The water turbine is no longer running now.

There are only pictures of sunny days, but you can walk without problems even if it rains. I was wondering that there are many British people walking without an umbrella even in the rain. But I also started wearing a waterproof jacket and walking in the rain without holding an umbrella. I think Staveley is a place to enjoy when it comes to the Lake District and it is likely to rain.
